Switching Email Providers Again?

Switching Email Providers Again?

By Tricia Meyer

Update: Well that was a huge screwup.

I switched away from Aweber and encountered nothing but issues with the new company! They charged me an additional $35 immediately after signing up, claiming my "plan" wasn’t big enough, despite meeting the criteria on the signup page. On top of that, I spent a week attempting to integrate my RSS feed into campaign emails, only to be met with unhelpful customer service responses.

After days of worrying about missing Deal emails for Sunshine Rewards members during peak shopping seasons, I begged Aweber to take me back. They did, reopening my account with all its former settings. Now, I just have some form updates and list cleaning to complete.

Lesson Learned!

Give Aweber a chance even if your price is increasing! They’re willing to work with you to see if cost adjustments are possible by removing inactive subscribers or switching to annual payments.

Original Post:

It feels like only yesterday I wrote about converting from Mailchimp to Aweber. Two years have passed since then! Back then, I switched due to a 40% increase in my monthly Mailchimp fees over three years. I had used Aweber before and they advertised significantly lower prices, so I moved all my sites there.

Fast forward to now, and my Aweber account is increasing from $54.99 to $90! That’s nearly double! Considering how infrequently I use my email list (around 4 times a year), this price jump is substantial.

I have nothing against Aweber; their system likely offers many valuable features if you utilize them all. However, I don’t need most of those extras. I only have an RSS feed of my blog posts (which I write a few times a year) and occasionally send out one-off emails.

A friend suggested another email marketing service during a PMA call, and after researching it, I found they offer what I need for just $35 per month. We’ll see how this new service performs!

If you have any email provider recommendations, please share them in the comments below. I suspect many affiliate marketers will be changing providers in the next four weeks as pricing increases across the board. Changing email providers is a hassle, especially when managing multiple sites with integrations. Therefore, choosing the right one from the start is essential!

Comments:

  • Vinny O’Hare: "I am going to stay with Aweber. Too lazy to change and I have like 100 lists. Been with them since 2004. I always considered it a bargain."

  • Tricia: "I wouldn’t change either if I had that many lists. I’m struggling right now to get three of them changed!"

  • Vinny O’Hare: "I think ConvertKit has 10k free user accounts. Break up a few lists over there and save money. I bet that’s what a lot of people are going to do."
